Stewardship 2027
“Planting seeds for the Future Program”
At the heart of Stewardship is covenantal giving, giving out of our first’s fruits rather than out of our excess. That is why we encourage everyone to Establish a tithe with God if you have never pledged to tithe in the past. By committing to any amount ahead of the upcoming year, you will be entering into a convent with God and will be blessed as a result. On the back of each pledge card (and on the graph provided below) is a breakdown of last year’s giving and I encourage you to find yourself represented there. Notice that regardless of the amount we give, it takes the whole community of the church to close this circle.
This year rather than increasing your tithe, we are encouraging all members to consider committing to our “planting seeds for the future program.” Working closely with our current youth and their families, the Staff Parish Relations committee has identified the hiring of a new youth director as a necessary next step for growing our student ministry and the future life and vitality of the church.
In order to do this, we plan to set aside and raise “seed money” to cover the salary of a potential youth director as we look for a candidate to fill that position In 2027. We estimate that a part-time youth director position would be around $24,000 per year with a full-time position ranging from $38,000 to $40,000. Our goal is to raise the funds for a full-time position through this program with the hopes of hiring someone in 2027 and rolling their salary into the annual budget by 2028.
On each pledge card we have given you an opportunity to commit your desired amount to the “Planting seeds for the future Program,” in addition to your annual estimate of giving. Please consider partnering with us as we look forward to the future youth program and the life of our church at FUMC Quitman.
All giving in 2027 towards this program should be clearly indicated in the memo line to minimize confusion (ex, youth fund or youth position). If we have not filled the position by the end of 2027, we will either roll the accumulated funds into a 2028 search, or you will be personally contacted about what other area of the church you would like your money to go towards.
We are so grateful for the generosity of all people who are moved by the Spirit to give. We thank you and pray that God will bless you richly (Phil. 4:17-19)
